X700 Pro vs. 6600GT

Hi,

I bought an X700Pro about two weeks ago, but i noticed today that there's the BFGtech 6600GT for just about the same price (well, an extra 5 or 10 dollars, but that's it)
I wasn't sure whether I should go ahead and exchange that?

Pros of the X700ATI: 256 MB memory, and a 3 three year warranty

Pros of the http://www.bfgtech.com/6600GT_PCIX.html">6600GT</a>: dual dvi connections, faster gpu (525mhz core clock vs 425 for the ati), SLI support(although my board doesn't support sli now, it's a neat option to have, but not a deal maker either)

one thing that kinda made me want to go the nvidia card was the pixel shader support . because I know I will want AOE3 when it comes at the end of the year, and I'm assuming other games by then will start using PS3.0..

any ideas/opinions?

get the BFG, it has a lifetime warranty and will be faster than the X700 (the 6600GT is designed to kill the 9800Pro series basically from what i have seen) also the 6600GT has the pixel shader 3 and also HDR (really fancy lighting support) in Far cry and the latest splinter cell although im sure more games will use it in the future 🙂

(this comes from someone who's 9800Pro died after 13 months along with my motherboard (old one)) so its not as if i have used nV for all my days

mmm no, i heard that bfg's HSF can fall off on the 6600gt.

get leadtek if you can

but either way, its more than worth it...you get way better performance (OCing is very good) and it has shader model 3.0 (x700 has 2.0)

trade it!

ok! so I went to double prices, and i found that I can even go for an X800XL for 100 CAD$ more... is that worth it?

this is so weird, last week, PCIe cards were almost non-existant in the stores here unless you were either ready to spend over 600 dollars or go under 300 and get a x700.... and now they all suddenly have so much variation.
i'm just glad i'm still within my return period

Yup. Well worth it. Tons faster than a X700pro or 6600GT.

I would get the 6600gt if you play at 11x9 or lower, and the x800xl if you play at 12x10 or higher. Do not get the x700pro.
