While looking at the BF deals, I saw an ATI X700Pro (256mb) on sale for 100$, down from 200$ normally. I'm looking to build a new budget system; should I spring for this, or pay more to get a 6600GT?

6600GT it is, then.

for $100 bucks the x700 is well worth it. 6600gt runs about $200 retail

No way it retails for $200 man, check the real time price engine, it's around $100-$110 with rebates and $130 without any rebates.

Ati Radeon X700 @ BB= $100 after MIR: In your opinion, is the PCI Express far superior to the AGP. If I upgrade, I gotta go new mobo, new ram, plus the X700. I guess I'm asking if I'm a fool to go AGP trying to save $$ for now. When the specs say the PCI Express has dual RAMDACS (2 at 400 MHz each) vs. the AGP's one @430MHz; does that mean the number of pipelines? Tia.

Personally, I'd take the 6600gt...it's a good bit faster in some cases, doesnt cost that much more, and has shader model 3 support.

For $100 though, the x700 wouldnt be a bad choice.

Ramdacs are used to drive monitors, so you can use two monitors with a dual-ramdac video card. It has nothing to do with the number of pipelines.
