X700 or GeForce 6600

I'm not an avid gamer, but do occassionly play NFS Underground/2.0 or some other game like that. I'm confused as to which card will be the most suitable for everyday work, some movie playing and occassional gaming between the ASUS X700 ($103 on newegg) and Gigabyte 6600 ($112 on newegg). Is it worth spending the extra money on the 6600 just for directX9.0c?

Please give me your opinion on which you think is the best bang for the buck.

yeah, I've got an ASUS A8N-E board. I have a PCI-E slot. I know the difference, thanks all the same for bringing it to my attention.

Just checking, a few people here have bought cards and then found out their $400 Dell only had old-PCI slots, no AGP or PCI-E.

The 6600GT is faster than the X700 pro (click the video tab for benches) but the plain X700 beats the plain 6600 hands down AT article -- you should be able to run most games at 1024x768 with an X700 and Doom3 at 800x600.
