X700 64MB vs X700 128MB

I wanna buy a laptop for my studies and some light gaming. The one with the 64 meg version costs 720, the one with the 128 meg versions costs 765. Is it worth it or doesnt it not make much of a difference.

Yes or no depending on what you play. Link

Edit: noticed it talked about the 128mb vs 256mb version so the performance should be the same size just the 64mb will be lower than the 128mb version

Get 128mb version, 64mb video card memory is only enough to hold "low" quality texture (set texture to "low" in games).

many newer games require 128mb video cards to run smoothly if at all. Battlefield 2's minimum spec 128mb vram.

If the 64MB version is not using a 128-bit memory interface, the the difference will be enormous.

If they are both at the same memory speed, then you may have to lower texture or other detail levels to get identical performance on the 64MB part. Some very demanding games may not be able to get their video memory usage under 64MB, which will hurt performance quite a bit.

For $45 it doesn't seem like a terrible investment. If the 64MB version only has a 64-bit memory interface, DEFINITELY buy the upgrade.

I have tried both an x700 mobility 64 and 128, the 128 is NOTICABLY better in all modern games.

I can get a score of 2000 something in 3dmark05 with 128, well below that with 64.
