X6800 Temp

My X6800 is revision B0 with stepping 4. I'm running it at stock 2.93Ghz. Temperatures in Hawaii are very hot right now. My ambient room temperature is 32-34c during the day. My CPU idles at 47-48C according to Speedfan, and 62-63C according to Core Temp 0.99. Temps climb up to 60C in Speedfan when using Orthos for a minute. I've stopped the test at 61C because I'm afraid my CPU will fry. I have a Thermalright Ultra 90 and mounted it very tightly with a bolt thru kit and MX-2 paste. I used a half-pea drop of paste and used pressure from the heatsink to spread it. I have an Antec Three Hundred case so there is definitely more than enough airflow.

I've already remounted the HS 4x and the temp is consistently 47-48C in Speedfan. The coolest my CPU has ever been at idle is 43C at 3am with ambient temp of 27-28C. Could my sucky temps be caused by my ambient room temp or does every X6800 run this hot?

ambient temps are causing most of your troubles most likely (check cpu voltage set in bios, that can be an issue if set too high for some reason), and you appear to have a very old stepping of that cpu

61C is perfectly fine. Top limit for running is 73.4C per the Intel specs before you get damage.

At full load my CPU in my sig hits 74C when the room is hottest. I hardly run it at 100% though, it's usually idling at 33C.
