X38-DS4 - E8400 Overclocking help

Everything I have tried doesn't seem to work and the motherboard requires a reset or it resets itself.

I also have G'Skill DDR2-1000 PC2-8000 MEMORY. 2048MB X 2

Can anyone give me some details on how the exact settings in the bios to adjust to make this happen?

Cooler is a Artic Freezer Pro 7, with Artic Silver 5

Thanks

I don't have that motherboard so I can't help out there.. It might help if you detail exactly what settings you have tried so others could get an idea of what the problem is.

A Gigabyte board, right? I suspect it's the same cold boot issue that seems to plague a lot of their boards while overclocking... including my eP35-DS4. I haven't gone about investigating it yet though.

Yes it is a Gigabyte board. I tried 400x9, 445 I believe x9, etc. I was able to get the memory to 1000 with 2.1v since it was running at 800 at 1.8v for some reason and the memory is 1000.

Look in that link above at the pictures.

I was successful in getting a OC!!

4.0ghz, 445x9 1:1, running stable and it really only went up 3 degrees in cpu temp! Damn this is nice! I was really surprised how much faster its running. Think I can get anymore out of her? Time to run some tests and benchmarks.

hmm now my video card fps is screaming high with pci-e set to 100mhz. Not sure why and its acting weird in games....

Okay, I need help guys!!

The FPS issue I can't resolve for some reason. I turned off the OC and it still is acting weird. The FPS jumps to a high number, and the game motion goes into slow mode for some reason.

Any ideas?

Hey, I have no idea about your graphic card, but may I have a question how did you solve your OC problem? I am having same issue like you had, while I put there any frequence on CPU, the board just reset itself and clock remains same, while voltages, timings and such are as I did set them, only fsb remains the same. When I enter bios again, I see the settings I did pick there ..but no effect at all:-(

Sounds like a driver issue, you didn't mention what video card you are using. Best to head over to the Video forum and see if you can see anyone with similar problems.

Haven't figured that one out yet. It worked after the OC for a few days fine even with reboots and tests. I turned the machine off for work one day and came home and turned it on, and it lost all its settings for OC, reset itself 3 times when it did that.

Tried several drivers and none of them haven't fixed it.
