My friend bought the new mobo X370-PRO.
He updated the new BIOS, but only run to 2133MHz.
He want to up to 3200MHz. What's happen?

The latest 0604 BIOS won't run any RAM at high speeds unless you're using Samsung b-die specific RAM. If he wants to run at 2666 or 2933 then he can try BIOS 0515 instead, which is much better non-samsung RAM support.

If he wants to run 3200 then the only way currently is with 2x8Gb samsung b-die specific CL14 RAM.

In the BIOS, you have to set D.O.C.P in AI Tweaker -> AI Overclock Tuner. There should be some selections to choose from.
Check DRAM timing from memory manufacturer of your memory and +1 to it so it will POST. Most memory has to run at 1.35V DRAM voltage to be stable, but adjust +0.01V for better stability for the RAM.
Lastly, please make sure your memory kit are in the PRIME X370-PRO Memory QVL.

thanks, that makes sense. Why should I add +1 to the timings for it to POST. Are there problems going with the timings stated in the specs? In my case 15-17-17-35

It's just a testing method. You loosen the timings and get everything stable. Once you're confirmed stable you then start changing timings and see how it goes.

The early Ryzen Mobo / BIOS seemed to run better with even ram timing for some.

Sorry, I was busy lately. For 15-17-17-35, it should be stable, because the memory tested and pass with it. I hope it is stable with 15-17-17-35.
