I've noticed an interesting behaivior with my X2 4200+ and Compatibility mode. It seems that all of the programs I've flagged for compatibility mode (Moo2, M&M7) all default to one processor affinity.
Now, I haven't done alot of testing or anything. But I know there's been some people who've wanted a more permanent solution than Alt-Tab-Affinity for those touchy programs that don't like Dual Cores. If the program will run in say, Win98 compatibility mode, it may be possible that you could "permanently" set affinity that way.
Of course, I've also not done any testing to see if my 7800GTX still uses the second core if compatibility mode is checked. So "Buyer beware" and keep an eye out if you try this trick and it works for your program of choice.
This trick would probably be most effective for those older games that people still play, especially the older MMOs, since I think most of them were designed with Win98 or so in mind.
Anyways, hope I'm right since I haven't done too much testing, and hope it helps someone out!
