I've been looking at all the BF ads for tomorrow and am gonna swing by Best Buy early but don't expect they will have either monitor I want (the 22" Westinghouse or the 19" Samsung WS).

So I am thinking of picking up an X2gen 19" for $89.99(after $50 MIR) at Micro Center if BB doesn't work out. Anybody have one of these? They seem decent enough spec-wise, 8ms, digital/analog input, 700:1 Contrast Ratio, etc. These go for around $180 on Newegg which is where I found only 2 reviews, both good, but we know what Newegg reviews are worth. :p

Wanting to add a second monitor. My aging 17" NEC 16ms LCD, although still very good, would make a nice second monitor in a dual monitor display set-up.

Opinions welcomed. :)

Nobody has an opinion one way or the other? :p

Here's a link to the product page. link

The more I look at it the more I think "How far wrong can I go for $90?" :p

I think it's your standard 19in TN panel.

Basically everything is >TN. So TN panels are always on the bottom of my list.

It's a great deal. As long as you don't do any photo editing or for some reason you need a higher quality 8-bit monitors then yea, I'd say go for it. And trust me, 8m/s is fine for gaming or anything for that matter. Might be a good idea to find out what the REAL response time is and not just the pretty number painted on the box.

But don't take my word for it, monitors aren't my specialty. (i.e. read the sticky)

Thanks for the response.

I pretty much know my stuff on this kind of thing but was wanting some reassurance that these things don't blow up or whatever, lol.

Plus, how bad can it be? If needed, my old NEC can resume it's duties as the main monitor and I can use this one as a secondary one... for business, spreadsheets, etc.

thanks again

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I thought I'd add my experiences with this monitor.

It has a very nice picture, and I've gamed on it without ghosting. It isn't bad at all.

And here comes the but....

I've had mine for about six weeks. I fired it up and blue sparks shot out of the top. It is of course dead now. If any one is interested I'll post back with how my RMA with X2Gen went.

I haven't seen anyone else with my problem (I'd hope not..LOL), I think this was just an isolated incident.
