first of all, look at the FPS it gets vs this 16k flat run, fake screenshot

Definitely NOT a fake screenshot, as the 2900XT was run with a C2Q, boosting the CPU and overall 3dmark score up significantly.

so that means: xt oced to 1ghz, still slower than gtx

No. It means XT Oc'd to 1Ghz is slower than a GTX Oc'd to whatever speed it is in that 16000 point 3dmark run.

still, gtx>xt

I don't get it, if it's so easy to oc, why doesn't ATI do it themselves and release an XT and XTX version at the same time, or even just release the XTX to profit from the early adapters? Most indications are that they will launch the XT first and then the XTX later on.

All I'm gonna say is, 3dmark scores mean jack in relation to real gaming performance that I am experiencing.

Your reply reaks of this:

Well, if you want to purchase a video card soley for 3dmark06, be my guest, but its not what I play on my system...

Well according to other reviewers...
http://www.overclock3d.net/news.php?typ...id=836&desc=radeon_hd2900xt_benchmarks

HD 2900XT should be faster than 8800GTX in DX10 gaming and I still don't why AT never compared 2900XT against a stock 8800GTX.

thats pretty simple to answer, and its what happens when turn up 6 months late.

i dont think many would bother to purchase a stock 8800GTX given that for a little extra you can have a pre overclocked version that is warranteed. i dont think BFG even sell stock ones do they? i know where i shop they hardly have any stock cards..theyre all vendor overclocked.

put simply they benched what will be one of the fastest ATi offerings that will be available come launch against one of the fastest nvidia offerings that is already available and will be available come launch of the 2900's

that seems pretty fair to me, its no use pumping me numbers from a stock GTX when in reality its not what ill be looking to buy. id imagine most enthusiasts would plug for a vendor clocked version as well.

if they wanted stock for stock..they should of had the damn thing ready at the same time.

That's SLI. Look in the specs, Cooperative adapters: Yes. That means SLI. On a C2D dual core at 3772MHz. SLI can get higher than that; on a Quad Core. Much higher.
I get that score with 8800GTX SLI and C2Q @ 3GHz and it's CPU limited.
I run with SLI visual indicators shown, the cards are constantly used more than 60% ONLY in the HDR tests. Proxycon, Firefly, CPU limited. SLI indicators show 30-50% usage.

On the XT run, that's a highly clocked C2Q. I didn't read this whole topic, it's turned into a flame war. But in order to get 2-3FPS in the CPU tests, you need more than 3.5GHz of Quad Core. I think closer to 4GHz.

EDIT: If the HD2900XT manages to pull that score, congrats AMD/ATI! I'm glad, it will be a hell of a card if they set the price right (on par with NV's GTS as they said).
It will also drive NV priced down and force nvidia to get the 8900 ready.

fastest non sli i could find, the cpu is not quite as fast, its probably 4 ghz

yep, you need 4ghz to get those cpu numbers

4.8ghz obtained this score with single card, lol

Yes you can get 17000-18000 with a single 8800GTX. That's only if you have some dry ice handy, volt modded card and lots of skill and patience.
I have a friend who's into this kind of stuff.
I like my computer neat and inside the case, so dry ice is out of the question for me.
Also, I'm not after 3D marks. I want gaming performance. Yes, 3D marks are kinda linked to real games performance, but there are also exceptions.

What I can see in the XT bench pic looks good if true. It's a single card. It doesn't match the GTX in Proxycon and Firefly, but has roughly the same FPS in HDR tests as GTX SLI. That should be good in future games when HDR will be mass adopted.

I say we should wait for real benchmarks, draw the conclusions afterwards. 5 days left.

Right. Why doesn't everyone atleat wait until the official release (and benchmarks) that's right around the corner before getting in a pissing contest over such little, possibly fake information.

Brets little statement could be read with two entirely different out comes. But I would take it to mean the cards gamming performance is no where near its 3Dmark abillities. We will soon find out.

I'm not impressed.

I doubt every card is going to make it to 1GHZ. AMD probably just sent out some golden samples.

Besides, isnt VR-Zone the same place where some guy hit 1GHZ on his R520? Or was it an R580? Either way, neither of those cards got even remotely close to the 1GHZ mark.

Besides, we dont know what kind of cooling he had! He could have had that R600 under dry ice for all we know.

Do not attempt to inject any common sense or logic in to a tank full of raging fanboys.
