I would just wonder why they wouldn't just call it plain old crossfire. Maybe this is just how they would package or market this gen of crossfire. I don't know. Nothing is making much sense here. Lots of room for doubt.

They already sell the X1950 XTX + CCrossfire card in a combo this way.
 
i doubt it.
If thats the case why did they reduce the clock speeds?
I think it'll be more like the 7950 gx2 with 2 pcb's acting as 1 card.
