X25-M RAID 0 prep

I have a X25-M 80GB G1 drive, and I am about to go RAID0 with another 80GB G1 drive.

I plan to flash the second drive with the latest 8820 firmware, i understand this wipes the drive. I also plan to reflash the first one over the 8820 already installed the same way. I have backups of everything on the first G1, so data loss is not an issue.

are there any utilities that i can run to correctly 'wipe' the drive and have them basically make it extra fresh before i stripe them under RAID0?

my goal is to get these used drives to the freshest state before striping.

and lastly, any input on cluster size? I will be using RAID0 on the Intel ICH8/9/10R controller, and win7 x64 as the OS. the computer is primarily a gaming computer.
