I've had my Intel X25-M for about 4 months now, and was a bit disappointed that Intel didn't release a function in the Intel SSD Toolbox to allow me to regain some of the lost speed that happens when TRIM isn't available. In Reading the OCZTechnologyForum threads, I discovered threads discussing using PerfectDisk 10 and CCleaner to speed up older SSDS. The image below graphs my experience.
The rightmost 2 data points represent PD10 doing a freespace consolidation, and then CCleaner doing a 'wipe freespace'.
I am running an Intel D975XBX2 mobo with ICH7R/DH controller, in ACHI mode, and the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver, and disk cache is turned ON. My X25's are partition-aligned w/32k.
Note that I show my F: drive (with XP swap, Photoshop swap, and temp files), then the C: XP and program drive.
I'm -still- very pleased with these two 80GB $229! drives.
