Now with the new 65nm PD with a load of L2 cache. What do you guys think about its comparison to x2?

Personally, i got an x2 not long ago, and i feel kinda bad

really? 2 x 512k vs 2 x 2 mb seems like a huge difference in accessing times. And intel was able to lower the processor's wattage. I am impressed.

The new Pentium range seems to be able to match the x2 range, but not beat it. Look at the benchmarks.

It's true...the very highest range of the 9xx PD can almost compete with the lowest range of the X2.

This should show you that a larger cache isn't as important as many people think...
As to wattage, even at the reduced power of the 9xx series, they still use far more power at idle than the X2 uses at full load...

I have a 920D, currently running at 3.43ghz, and it still doesn't even come close to the performance of my X2. Maybe if I can get it to 4.4ghz it will keep up with my X2@ 2.618ghz. Definatly a huge improvement over the 8xx series. I think my temp sensor is borked though, as it shows idle temps that are below ambient, so I can't say for sure how much cooler it runs. While it's a big improvment, and a step in the right direction, it still can't match the X2.

Interesting... from the benchmarks i have seen (free tom's hardware or something... forgot), the old 930D actually comes pretty close to the x2 3800+ in many applications except gaming.

AMD is rumored to be going into 65um processors soon. Does anybody know around when a new Athlon processor will come up?
