x2 memory choice crucial Ballistix pc4000 , or ocz pc3200 platinum

i have a p4 right now, and Im transition to the amd x2 platform piece by piece

so id like to run 2gb in my next box--so im looking to change out my ram for the time being

so while I transition I need either some pc3200 that can run at least 2.5, 3, 3, 7 @ 240mhz, or pc4000 that will do the same all at 2.8V

id prefer tighter timings, but for now the clock speed it the most important since it will be running my current p4 till I can sell it of course

im looking at either

1) Crucial Ballistix 2GB

309.99

2) OCZ 2GB Platinum

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227210

240.00 after rebate

and maybe even these since they are on sale

4) OCZ Gold Edition 2GB

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227219
304.90 after rebate

in reading the newegg reviews it seems some have gottne the mushkinhig perfomace to 240 with the timings im using

would that be the better route?

thx any help would be appreciated

OCZ is cheaper preforms good but crucial oc's better. but that is what dividers are for 🙂

There's a reason people don't recommend Corsair. They usually suck. 🙂

Why are you choosing different ram now, not what you listed? I'll be ordering the OCZ Platinum with my 4400+... let you know how it works.

I would have ordered the OCZ already, but I have a p4 in the interim, so I need a sort of "tweener" set

one that does average timings, and high FSB, hence the 2.5,3,3,7 @ 240-250FSB

clicky clicky
according to zebo's conclusions, unless you are running an extensive amount of winzip for whatever reason, you shouldn't have to go about PC3000 and just buy a set of Low latency like he has 🙂 *planning to do this in a few weeks*

is that why Corsair has won more awards than other ram makers?

that is not a very helpful statement. Corsair sells awesome memory, many people will say so.

Yeah, I'm very happy with my Corsair ValueSelect. It doesn't overclock that well, but it IS value RAM, so I can't complain. Runs great, and the lifetime warrenty is nice 🙂
