I know this has probably already been discussed but
I just got a X2 3800 and I can't get the stupid thing to work.

I've already reinstalled XP like 3 times trying to fix this thinking
it might be driver issues.

The problems are that it just reboots out of no where and
everytime I try to run a game it closes immediatly back to the
desktop. I've installed the AMD drivers and the XP hotfix but
nothing seems to work.

My specs are:
Asus A8N-SLI Premium
AMD X2 3800
eVGA 7800GT
Audigy
WD Raptor
OCZ Platinum 2x1gig 3200
Antec Truepower 480watt

I've heard from a lot of reviews that Antec PSU and the ASUS A8N-SLI
boards don't mix well. Could this be the problem?

1. Fresh installation of Windows Xp
2. Install XP SP2
3. Install Nvidia chipset driver (skip ide, nam, and maybe the audio driver)
4. Install AMD Driver, Reboot
5. Install MS Hotfix, Reboot
6. Apply MS Hotfix Reg entry, Reboot
7. Install Video card driver

Try that order. If not, search the forums, it has been covered many times.

Good luck!

Ya, I've found some links just now. They say kinda
the same thing you say. I'll give it a try. In the process
of reinstalling XP AGAIN.....

Last error was really wierd. It rebooted out of now where
as usual but when it booted back up to XP it said it
couldn't locate the profile. So it used a different one but
ended up not doing anything at all. All it did was show the
blue background.

Ya, I think I figured out the problem.

I think my RAM wasn't set to high
enough voltage. Changed it
to 2.75v and no problems.

Well I guess it wasn't the RAM voltage that was the problem :(

I really dont know what the heck it is. I did get the error code that it
gives me on the BSOD:

STOP: 0x0000009c (0x00000004, 0x8054d5f0, 0xb2000000, 0x00070f0f)

I'm running memtest right now to see if it might be the memory.
I don't know why it would be because I use this memory in my last system
and I didn't have any problems.

I ran Prime95 to test my processor and I let it run most of the night.
Didn't come up with any errors so I really don't know what it is.

I emailed the tester at OCZ about my memory and it being compatible with
my mobo. After I did I scrolled down a little and it showed him talking about
what settings work with my memory and my board so it should be compatible.
ERRRRRRR!!!!!! This is driving me insane.

Ok guys, I went in and set the page file to let windows
do automatically. So far no problems at all. I'm installing, downloading, surfing
, and listening to music.

Is this a normal thing that could cause my problems or am I still probably
going to run into the same problem?

You mean you had the page file set manually ? That would have been your problem, never do that.

You know, I keep hearing about people having problems with the page file but I disabled my pagefile a few months ago and haven't had any problems...
