X2 Dual Core Gaming Stutter

Well after playing for the past few months I have come to believe the stutter when moving is from running a dual core, SLI setup, that most people seem to be experiencing with dual cores and the lack of support these CPUs seems to have in XP.

Now I just figured all I need to do is a Ctrl, Alt, Del and get out of the game turn off one the cores and go back into the game.

Well this is all good and simple to do, one problem for me Oblivion locks up when I go back into it, so I can't do this.

I have heard there are some gaming apps that let you handle this before running the game.

ICEAffinity:

WinLauncherXP:

imagecfg.exe:

I found a way to do this from the command, so I'd like to just use this.

But when I run it as:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /C start /AFFINITY 1 D:\Games\Oblivion\OblivionLauncher.exe

Nothing happens, all I see is the cmd prompt flashing, like it's trying to load.

Anything thing else besides these? Meaning I want to use the best possible app.

Has anyone had success running it from the shortcut exe in the "Target" as:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /C start /AFFINITY 1 D:\Games\Oblivion\OblivionLauncher.exe

THANKS

Maybe you need to enclose the path in double-quotes:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /C start /AFFINITY 1 "D:\Games\Oblivion\OblivionLauncher.exe"

Ok, I'll play with it.

THANKS

DasFox you using dual core AMD driver?...I can't say I have seen any stutter in Oblivion with my X2 CPU.

Normally Anti- virus real time scanners are the main culprit of stutter in gaming.
