I was building my upgraded system last night which now contains an X2 4600+. I remember hearing about an X2 driver from AMD that supposedly fixes a lot of issues. Going over to their Utilities and Drivers page list a myriad of utilities and drivers. I went ahead and grabbed the AMD Athlon? 64 X2 Dual Core Processor Driver for Windows XP, but are there any others utils on that page people would recommend installing at this point?

Thanks,

The driver is for enabling AMD's power management (CnQ). This also requires a hotfix from microsoft and a registry hack. The Dual Core Optimizer is the more important download to get from the AMD site. There's a better article on the software required for the X2 on xtremesystems

yeah, the dual core optimizer is really nice, i got a boost of almost 200 points in 3dmark06 after installing it. i think you have to have the latest AMD driver for this to work

That's quite a big boost. It doesnt say anything about a dependency on the AMD page but it probably doesnt hurt to apply all 3. I will be once I get my arse into gear and install my 4200+ that has been sitting on my desk all week.
