I'd have to wonder why AMD would feel any compulsion to release many high-end single core cpus from here on out, unless they're afraid of the occasional gaming problems people get with the X2s.
The Inquirer is just about the most good for nothing phony piece of crapola called a tabloid with no worthy news....

I remember reading a article this past Summer AMD said they were going to keep their single core line mainly for gamers since single core procs played games the fastest (this was before F.E.A.R. had come out). Until the bulk of the games take advantage of the dual core performance I dont see them stopping anytime soon with single core chips.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the future. Will dual core chips take over or will something better or different leave dual cores by the wayside?
