E6300, E4400 are pretty close to the X2 5000, if maybe a bit quicker. What do you want to know this for?

Its hard to say really, It all depends on what you are using your computer for. Looking at Toms hardware charts, it looks like it falls between a E6300 and a E6600

just because i picked one up for my new test rig - messing around w/ different os and stuff, so nothing much, just a step up from my xp test rig. hell if it falls between a 2160-6600 or anywhere in between i will be fine :)

my current main rig is a e2160@3GHz and it handles all i do fine - no need for quad stuff since my most of the stuff i do doesn't need quad - not much encoding or anything.

so i guess it should be = to my main rig, give or take - that is good for me :) thanks

At stock speed it's probably a little slower than an e5200.

Overclock both to their max and it's simply no comparison, the e5200 wins hands down.

Clock for clock the Athlon X2s are most comparable to the E2xxx series, depending on the application. So you would probably see similar performance between your E2160 at 3 GHz and your Athlon X2 at 3 GHz. In fact, runs some tests of your own if you can, and post the results.

Maybe clock-for-clock with the 1MB neutered Intel chips but not the 2/3/4/6MB chips. Those pull ahead in nearly all benchmarks I've seen and the 45nm generation has just made it worse (an e5200 is nearly equal to an X2 6000+).
