I was pleasantly surprised last week when I opened my new x2 4400+ box and saw the stock cooler. It looks nice and has heat pipes. I did not give it a lot of thought over the weekend or earlier today, but I think this is a quite good cooler. The OC I have decided to continue using (despite vcore adjustments working properly) is ~2570MHz with tight ram timings.
With 2-prime95's I was averaging a cpu temp of 54c with the stock cooler. Idle, it was 35c.
Today, our all-around IT/network guy replaced the stock hsf with the XP-120 and Panaflo M1A.
With the same 2-Prime95 stress tests running, it is at 52c. Case temp is 35c. I have the top and rear fans on high (Antec P180). The xp-120 was installed with Arctic Silver 5. He meticuously spread it very thin on both cpu and mating surface on the xp-120. It has been stressing fine with Prime95 for almost 5 hours. I'll let it continue until tomorrow.
Has anyone seen a good comparison of the X2 stock HSF and the XP-120?
Thanks,
