X2 4400 + EPOX EP9NPAULTRA + RAM???

I am NOT an over-clockers! I just want fast, reliable stock performance.

So, do I go with...

Corsair ValueSelect
CL3
PC3200
1GB
$83

GeIL Value Series
CL3 / 3-8-4-4
PC3200
1GB
HEAT SPREADER
$88.77

Patriot
CL2 / 2-3-2-5
PC3200
1GB
HEAT SPREADER
$109.99

OCZ Platinum Series
CL2 / 2-3-2-5
PC3200
1GB
HEAT SPREADER
$123.44

mushkin High Performance
CL2 / 2-3-2
PC3200
1GB
HEAT SPREADER
$127.00

BTW, I am only asking because I've heard that A64 procs, with their on-board memory controller, have virtually no performance gain using expensive, high-end RAM.

If what I have heard is true, then the next question is, how important at cooling are heatspreaders?

Great board. Mine runs great. See sig below.

You want stock, so that should be caaaake.

Waste to spend extra money on. Wasteful is buying CAS3 when CAS2 is cheaper.

I've nver heard of anyone using gigaram. Are they good?

They're decent. 'Not generic' is really all you need to know. They've been around for a while now, since the 386 days.

I see you've made your decision but if you change your mind, go for GEIL value, 2.5-3-3-6 timings rather than the 2.5-3-3-8. Great at stock speeds but look at my sig for how well this overclocks, 229MHz on cas2.0. I've had this up to 237MHz on cas2.5. Remeber this is value ram. This wasn't its max-out speed - I'm sure there's more it can take. Take a look at this review if you need more convincing. Comes with nice blue heat spreaders too. I don't know what people in the AT forums have against GEIL. OCZ obsessed.

Go with Corsair or Crucial value. That almost always garauntees quality, stability, and compatibility at decent prices. Who cares about slightly faster timings that make no difference unless you get boners over benchmarking.
