Anyone know what the realm of this stepping for overclocking on water might be? I am curious before I begin the experiment. Replacing a disappointing Opty 170 which only reaches 2450 dual Prime95 stable.

It could be my Patriot dimms causing the problem but I figure I will try to get the X2 4400+ up high on my DFI expert first.

My current rig:
Opty 170 at 2745 1.5vcore Idle 30C Full LOAD 44C
2X1024 dimms at 220 3-3-4 (in process of testing, prime95 fails on one core but runs everything stable in Windows )
DFI EXPERT motherboard
2 evga superclocked 7900GTXs at 720gpu 1822mem
Raptor 74gig and one Maxtor 200gig
X-fi Music
Seasonic 600 S12 psu
Dell 2405fpw

Edit: Meant the 2405 not the 2407 :)

Well, I have 3 X2's and an Opteron 170. They all run 2500 @1,475vcore. 2 3800's, a 4400 and the 170. Very interesting that they all end up the same speed.

Hmmm. I was hoping for a little more than 2500 on water but I will take what I get, LOL. If I don't get higher than the Opty than I will sell it to a friend at retail. The Opty is only about 3 weeks old and he will pay retail if he can pay me in installments interest free of course.

BTW, the opty started out at 2600 and the 4400 @ 2560, but over the months I have had to take them down a bit when they locked up after a month or two.
