what mb works best with AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Manchester, the ASUS A8R-MVP looks nice, but 1/2 the reviews on newegg say avoid it, looked at a lot of other socket 939 mb's too for this chip and a lot of bad reviews all over the place.

does anyone actually own this cpu and have it working w/o problems?

Mobo depends on whether you're overclocking or not. Let us know and we'll recommend you a mobo.

As this is in the overclocking forum i'll assume you are and say the DFI Lanparty Ultra-D or the ASUS AN32-SLI.

Always looked pretty equal between the DFI Lanparty and ASUS AN32, that's only going on reviews though and not first hand experience.

I've owned both, actually I've owned several of the same line.

I have the AN8 Ultra. I think they stopped making them, but you can still get the KN8 Ultra, which I hear is just as good, except it doesn't have the silent heatpipe to cool the chipset (unless you get the KN8 SLI). Very stable board. Running 260 x 10 right now 1:1, 1T. Hasn't crashed on me yet these past few weeks that I've had it.

prob will try to o/c to 2.4ghz, same as a 4600

2.4 should be a no brainer for a 3800+...any current board out there will do that for you, so I would recommend you look for the extras that you want...i.e. firwire, # of SATA ports, raid, etc...

Low cost would be an Expox ultra of DFI infinity, mid would be an MSI, Asus or DFI LanParty series and if you want to spend big bucks, go for the DFI Expert or Asus A8n32 SLI.
