X2 3800 Overclock

I overclocked my X2 3800+ to 2400 using these settings: (240 FSB, 4X HT, CPU VID 1.4v, Extra CPU voltage = over VID 6.6%, memory at 166mhz). My cpu temperature was 25C idle and 35-40C load. System temp = 26C. One core failed CPU(FPU) test on S&M and then the computer froze shortly thereafter. How would I know if my power supply is holding me back? Is this the reason for the S&M failure and freezing? By the way, I was able to overclock my memory to 220 and run it 1:1 on a 220 FSB with the cpu overclocked to 2200 with no problems (didn't stress test though). Anyone have any ideas how to get my system stable at 2400 without upping the voltage too much?
