Thought I did enough compatibility research, but it turns out the A8N Deluxe and Premium aren't close enough to share bios. The Deluxe offically supports the x2 3800, but the Premium doesn't yet. :(

I already purchased these 2 pieces and, given the popularity of the hardware, figured someone else has this combo. Any luck? If so, which bios?

Thanks,
Jason

The Premium should come with a X2 capable BIOS. Since their is nothing different between the 3800+, a 4200+, or a 4600+ Idoubt you would have any Issues installing it.

WELCOME! The Asus A8N-SLI Premium is X2 compatible out of the box. It even says so on the box. The newest final bios is 1006 and can be downloaded from Asus's website. However, the changes are very minor and bios 1005 which is currently on the board will do fine also.

Thanks for the input and the welcome.
When I called Asus, they told me that, as of now, this particular CPU isn't officially supported on the premium mobo. They wouldn't be any more specific than that. I guess I'll find out on Friday when I put this beast together. :)

That support person was probably just covering their own tail, just in case you had problems.

However, the X2 3800 isnt any different than the other X2 with 512KB of L2. Its just clocked a little slower.
