I am a mediocre gamer. I play Call of Duty 2, NBA Live 2006, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, Need for Speed Most Wanted, etc. Do you think my setup is ok? I don't need SLI and RAID for sure. Not really an overclocker. I won't be upgrading in 2 years, so I guess sticking with 939 make sense. I force more on price than performance, but the price difference between each option is kind of closed. One thing that I want to make sure is that the motherboard and memory that I chose are stable.

Which option would you prefer? Or other recommendations? Is is really worth the money? I want to finish this build before September, so I think I should start buying the components at the end of August.

Thanks!

I would go with 939 or Core 2, the AM2 costs $40 extra with only vague "future proofness" as extra value. 939 is also more mature, with stable BIOSes and solid RAM compatibility.

The Core 2 is much faster of course, but also a little bleeding edge with buggy motherboards, RAM compatibility issues, etc. hampering a great CPU line.

I needed to put together a work box for my home this week and decided on another socket 939 X2 3800+ system myself after reading about all the problems people are having on the bleeding edge with Core 2.

FYI, the Asus A8N-E is good, I've had one for about 4 months now with zero issues running an X2 4200+ at stock speed with 2 GB of Crucial PC3200.

Yes, 939 is more mature. I tend to stay away from brand new stuff myself, as all the wrinkles aren't ironed out upon release.
939 should be around a while yet.

If I go with E6300, is MSI P965 Neo-F a stable mobo for Corsair 1GB PC2-6400 DDR2 DIMM Memory Kit?

Thanks!
