x1959xt Fan Speed

Hi everyone. I posted this question in the Computer Help section but didn't get any response. Can someone here help me out?

When I start my computer, the video card fan usually ramps up to high speed then shifts to normal speed after a few seconds. Lately the fan stays stuck in high speed until I completely shut down the computer and restart. Upon restart, the fan works normally.

Anyone have a similar problem or suggestions for fix?

The card is a Sapphire Radeon X1950XT 256MB. I built this machine in March with the help of everyone on this forum and it has worked fine till now.

Thanks.

you can set the fan manually using ati tool. I have the same exact card you have and also an x1900 xfire master card that I'm letting a buddy use. Both of those do the 100% fan thing but immediately slow down, I'm assuming it is a self-test feature. Obviously something is wrong with your card if it's staying stuck at 100%. I would rma the card if you can. If they'll do an rma replacement then you're going to get the "closest thing available" since they've been oos for a while on x1950xt cards. If you can do an rma refund then wait until the new cards come out (oct 29 and nov 15 according to current rumors) and snag one of the $200-ish cards.
