Having some trouble with my new X1950 XT (PCIe). It's the 512mb version from Sapphire. I upgraded from a 7900 GT, and my specs are as follows:
MSI Neo4-F
Athlon 64 X2 4200+ (939)
X1950 XT 512
160gb Seagate SATA (and 2x250gb)
NEC 3550-A
Audigy 2
Antec SmartPower 2.0 500 watt
I was using a Radeon 7500 PCI for about a week, while I was waiting for my 1950XT to arrive, and everything ran fine on that. I uninstalled the XP drivers for the 7500, and shut down my PC, and put in the 1950. Plugged in the 6-pin PCIe cable, and turned on the PC. Attempted to boot into XP and Vista, but neither of them would run. XP hangs on the screen when you first see "Windows XP" and the blue loading bar, and Vista hangs after a few scrolls of the green loading bar (Professional and Ultimate respectively, if that makes any difference). I've gotten successfully into XP safe mode, but not Vista. I've tried only using my 160gb (OS) drive, DVD writer and the 1950, and the results were the same. I'd really appreciate any input you guys have, as I'd really just like to get this baby running. If you have any more questions, I'm glad to answer them. Thanks!!
PS - I'd appreciate it also if this doesn't turn into an "OMG you should've bought an 8800 GTS 320" thread. I bought ATI for the VRAM advantage (if there is one) and the more-stable XP/Vista drivers.
