Yes, the Sapphire X1950XT is gone... I had it on my wishlist a week ago and it disappeared, but then reappeared as "Out of Stock" with an ETA restock date. I guess newegg changed their mind and now I guess it's gone for good. :(

That's a bummer - I want an upgrade to last me through the next DX10 refresh.

newegg has a chat feature that lets you talk to a rep. they helped me track down a rebate that I forgot to print out yesterday. alternatively, you could check out the fs/ft forum here or maybe try...gasp...ebay.

Whew, glad I got the XT when I did! Slapped on a Zalman vf900 and it plays like a champ, pushing 70c under full load.

It's too bad though. This wouldn't suck quite as bad if Nvidia didn't keep their prices so high. A 8800gts would cost a good $100 extra if not more.

edit: or you could just do what I did and type "x1950xt" on google. the VERY FIRST LINK was this:
http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php...5f2b11b232acdc1b475dfd

I saw that too - although it comes out to about $200 shipped which is a little more than I'd like to pay. If you find any other places though, I'm all ears :)

new egg was almost up to 200 before they ran out. this is just a REALLY bad time to want a midrange card. the only decent option is to get a used one and hold out until dec/jan new releases.

*cough* I'm selling an X1900 XT 512MB in my FS thread *cough* *cough*. But anyways, yeah, I remember there was a Gigabyte (?) X1950 XT 512MB for $180 after rebate on NewEgg just a few weeks ago; I really should have bought it when I had the chance. I guess they're running out of stock...

Ironically, the only ones left are AGP, ha ha.

P.S. Are self-plugs allowed in other threads? If not, please let me know and I'll remove it.

X1900XT 512mb will be mostly faster than X1950XT 256mb since additional memory bandwidth will provide roughly 5-7% performance improvement while 512mb of memory can give you 20-50% improvement.

I've been VERY tempted to buy one of the 256mb's, or the Gecube 512mb, but I don't think my PSU can quite cut it. And I don't want to get it only to find out I need to spend another $60-80 on a PSU so my system won't go up in flames. I might be able to get a new card for Christmas, though. That would be awesome.

What's your PSU? I'm using a 500W Ultra V-Series that I got free after rebate and it's working great.

Same for my 7950 512. Extremely scarce. 256MB is still there though but probably not for long.

very true statement. I was planning to make a benchmark comparison thread yesterday with my x1950 xt vs my cousin's x1900 xfire master card, but I hit a snag. His card had to be underclocked to run 3dmark 06 without crashing. I finally got it to work at 553/620. Even at that number on an e6600 at 3.0, he got 5850. My x1950 xt 256 with my e6750 at 3.0 hits 5997. I'm extremely confident that he would have pasted me if both our cards were at stock. I'm planning to do some more testing in the near future on his card to determine the cause of its failures. I'm hoping it's just weak mem so I can get the core cranked up at least back to stock.. :( Anyway, he just moved and is still unpacking, but one we find his xfire cable I'm going to try to get his card as close to stock as possible and compare some xfire numbers on his 975 mobo vs my p35 mobo. I guess they'll still be good for comparative numbers...

The problem with eBay is that people often bid the prices up higher than what you can buy for new, and all for used equipment in unknown condition. Good deals to be had on eBay? Not for video cards or CPUs.

There are ENDLESS good deals on Ebay for new and used merchandise alike.
I have used Ebay for years and years. All you have to be, is a smart shopper and check out the sellers feedback, and KNOW what you're buying.

I bought on Ebay a brand new OEM Pentium M CPU (The one I'm currently using) very cheap ($149 shipped) while in many places it was selling at more than 400 bucks. It has been working great since, may be Ebay it's like risk it or not.
