X1950PRO xfire

I can find an ASUS X1950PRO non xfire version of the card at zzf for 199 and a Sapphire Xfire version of the X1950PRO at newegg for 199 but I can't find them made by the same manufacturer. Would it be better for crossfire to have them made both by the same manufacturer?

There aren't any master\slave cards for the X1950 Pro, just get two cards and you're set.

The reason Asus designates a model non-crossfire is because it doesn't include the internal bridge according to what I've read.

lol just use 2 like SLI

Don't laugh at me I crossfire has always been a bit trickier then SLI and I havn't built a xfire system yet I didn't know they finally changed that stupid design of xfire/non xfire cards. :x

Better to ask the question then to make a potentially expensive mistake... don't let the occasional fun-poking shame into not asking next time!

Also as far as what brand card to go with for Crossfire, you might want to make sure you get a single-slot cooler model like the Sapphire for both cards to garantee you end up with at least one or two free PCI slots.. the Asus is a dual-slot design.

So you can buy any card and only run one, right? Cause i'm not looking for Xfire... And sorry if I kinda threadjacked, but there is no more master/slave.

Yup. Any X1950p can run solo. If you intend on using Crossfire though you should avoid the cards with the "cost saving" PCB that has no internal Crossfire Connectors.
