Usually you can just grab two, but I believe Asus rips you off by not including the new crossfire dongle. (Each card is supposed to come with one, and you need two to complete the crossfire connection.) You're supposed to buy their special crossfire edition for that.

hopefully a crossfire person will help out here, but I believe you need a Master card that has a special port that the dongle connects to. Here's a pic of what the ports look like on an X1900 Crossfire Card (Master) - Link (the dongle connects to the port on the left)

Nope, the x1950pro uses a master-less setup using two internal connectors.

Nice. So is there any need at all for any dangle, or connector? Or just two of the same cards in a crossfire-ready motherboard?

Conclusions
Just a month ago, when we reviewed the Radeon X1900 GT, I said that the GT's performance was "virtually on par with the GeForce 7900 GS" and that "You'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between the two in day-to-day use." I thought the ATI card had better image quality but suffered from poor CrossFire options. The X1900 GT also drew more power than the GeForce 7900 GS and cost a little more. Now, with the Radeon X1950 Pro, we have the same basic performance and image quality as the Radeon X1900 GT, but it comes with lower power draw, lower noise levels while gaming, and a much improved CrossFire scheme that works almost exactly like SLI. And the Radeon X1950 Pro now matches the GeForce 7900 GS's $199 price tag.

wow, the 1950pro are getting price around $165. that such a nice deal, and it an Asus (usually carry a price premium over sapphire/others). wish i waited and got on this deal then the $145 7800GS woot thing. Retail card, warranty, box, accessories, etc, much better then the woot bare card with shaky 3-6m warranty if any.

Not a bad deal, but is this card really better than say th 1950 from Nvidia?

As a single card the X1950 Pro is a little faster than the Nvidia's 7900GS, but when paired in a SLI configuration the 7900GSs will easily outperform the CrossFired duo of X1950 Pros.

Just wait a couple of weeks and you'll find even better deals.
And after 4 weeks the prices will get even lower, etc
Isn't it business as usual? LOL

Just to clarify the confusion w/ X1950Pro CrossFire, you don't need a master card, but you do need the SLI like connector to link the two X1950Pro together.
