X1950 XTX

I just installed an ATI x1950 xtx along with a 600W power supply. I noticed the card fan wasn't turning so I called tech support. He directed me to return it for a replacement. I pulled the card and checked the fan power connector on the board and all looked well. But I decided to reinstall it and check it once more. This time the fan started and has been running for several hours now. I've noticed it doesn't run very fast though. I hate to keep it if there is something wrong. Anyone know what I should expect in terms of fan speed. Does it vary with GPU loading or temperature?? The cooling shroud is also hitting the chipset fan so once I decide if I'm keeping it or not, I'll have to trim it to fit. Crazy huh.
