The X1950 XT is going for £180

The 512mb X1900 XT is going for £205

Which is the better deal?

I highly doubt one is faster than the other. But since you have a C2D...why not go for the one with more memory ?

Btw, nice speakers you have there nib, I have the same set.

If i'm not mistaken the x1950 xt is based on the x1950 xtx but only has 256 mb of ram.If the x1950 xt features the cooler like the one on x1950 xtx,by all means get it.

Nope same cooler as the X1900.
So maybe more ram is a better choice over faster GDDR4 memory?
Even if it's an extra £25?

It probably depends on the games that you want to play with it. For many games, the X1900XT 256 and the X1900XT 512 were pretty similar. There are some games that require more than 256M of memory for the texture packs. If you play those a bit, then 512 might be better. Otherwise, the faster memory should be slightly better assuming that the quality is the same.

The X1900XT 512 will almost certainly be faster. Most benchmarks indicate that the extra memory makes a more significant difference than the increased memory speed on these cards (about 5-15% as opposed to 2-5%). Although it will also have the louder cooler.
