X1950 pro Xfire edition on nVidia chipset

Ohh its an intel ;(

Amm you will have to go with a decent Intel chipset not Nvidia chipset.

Why is that? There's nothing wrong with s775 NVIDIA boards, and not everyone wants to use i965. 🙂

Thanks for the replies, I was just concerned that it being the crossfire master card, it would be messy. Thanks!

WHAT xfire "master" card?
:Q

x1950p doesn't require a master card -- or dongles -- any longer

afaik

Correct.

Technically there is only Crossfire Master Card's for the x1950p as they all have the compositing engine built into the GPU now.

It should work on any chipset but Crossfire needs either an ATi or Intel chipset that is xfire enabled so if you intend to go to xfire later on you should get a different motherboard.

thanks for the further clarification

isn't there a 'hack' that allows some newer ATi cards to work in xfire on nvidia MBs . . . ?

or is it the other way 'round?
😕

A single x1950 pro will work on that board, however 2 x1950 pro in xfire will NOT work. Like has been said, you need an ATi xfire or intel 975x chipset.

It's the other way around. The 975X chipset natively supports CrossFire but can also be hacked to support SLI.

Wow, interesting. I haven't heard of the SLI hack on the 975X boards. Any links?

IMHO, it's not a matter of native support.

You can run either Crossfire or SLI on any 975X or P965 mobo that has 2 full-size PCI-e slots.

It's just that nVidia has chosen to be ghay & not allow SLI support in their drivers for those chipsets since they are greedy & want people to buy their chipsets.

Does Nvdia not realize that they could make more money if any mobo could use SLI graphics :Q

Everyone and their brother would rush to best buy to buy a 2nd 7300GS or w/e crap dell includes on their pc's these days.
