x1900xtx screen flashing blank for a second

I started noticing the screen flashing blank for a second just a little while after playing games, Could this be a "side effect" of the switching from 3d to 2d/desktop clockspeeds from the ati drivers or is it a hardware problem? It never happened in game. Is this something I should worry about or?

rig: AMD athlon 64 3500+ @ 2.5ghz 10x250mhz 1.55v, 2x1gig OCZ DDR 3.3.3.8 @ 250mhz 2.80v saphhire x1900xtx not overclocked, a8n-sli mobo, 520watt psu with 2 seperate 12v rails for gfx cards
 
It does it on my computer after I exit games. X1800 XL. Actually, every card Ive ever had done it. I never worry about it, and you shouldnt either. Not a hardware problem IMO
 
f.e.a.r. has ran on 1280x1024x32 4x AA rest of the options maxed out for hours.
I think if it was something with the hardware it probably would have occured in game too
