even though I have a X1900Xt card I havent kept up with the whole crossfire thing all that much, dual cards arent that appealing to me just yet especially when refreshes are coming out so quickly...

...but how exactly does one create a X1900XTX crossfire setup? I thought the crossfire "master" cards only went up to the X1900(625/1450) core/mem.
do some of these places advertising systems with X1900XTX crossfire configs, they just overclock it to XTX levels in the omen and just use a real XTX card as the 2nd card?

You want a 3200 Crossfire capable mommaboard. The earlier Crossfire offerings were not so hot!

Crossfire can work even if the master and slave cards run at different speeds. I believe each card runs at its maximum speed.

Q. What happens when your CrossFire Edition card and and a compatible standard Radeon (CrossFire Ready) graphics card have different clock speeds?

A. Both cards will continue to operate at their individual clock speeds.

Q. What happens when you pair a 12-pipe CrossFire Edition card with a 16-pipe card?

A. In this scenario both cards will operate as 12-pipe cards while in CrossFire mode.
