i get 6050 and 3000 SM 2.0 and 3000 SM3.0/HDR score 1050 cpu score with my 7800 GT sli and a newcastle 3800+ setup, that crossfire score can be better considering iz using an X2 cpu and 2x 1900xtx
Those scores are about 50% better than yours. That's a hell of a lot in the world of 3Dmark scores. Sorry bud.
I'm talking about the x1900 xtx only 3000 higher even with a much better cpu, if I had a x2 CPU I'd only be 2k points behind

Think about it from a money prospect. Two $300 cards with a $200 cpu vs what, ~$1100 in cards (or more) and a $400 CPU. Thats over twice the money for 50% gain in speed. Now don't get me wrong, those scores are definitly impressive and computer parts are all about dimishing returns as you go for the best of the best but the previous poster still has a point.
And 3Dmark is synthetic. My 7800GT does VERY well in 3Dmark06 beating out a number of ATI cards that are faster in the real world. I look forward to actual game benchmarks.

7800 GT cost 260 average, now stop saying that iz 300!! cause I got 200 for brandnew PNY one during christmas, and I just got my final 50 dollar rebate this week!!!!!!!
And I just bought a brand new X1800XT for $349 which is probably the best bang for your buck currently. Higher-end is always going to have a higher premium but some folks are want the best and willing to pay for it.

What I do not understand is why ATI cannot produce a low-noise cooling system. The heatsink is massive and the contraption takes up two slots as is, why not put a big ol' fan on it and run it at slower RPM's? instead they put the damn whiny ass fans that run with high pitcehd squealing noises.
I may be in the minority here, but noise IS a serious factor for me. If this card can't be modded or outfitted with a low-noise solution I won't buy it.
