What do you guys think of these settings.....

1600x1200
Textures are on Large
All the distances are maxed out except for grass distance.
I put grass distance all the way down (This causes it not to show the grass)
All the shadows are on except for grass shadow, since there is no grass, no need for shadow. lol
the shadow filtering is set to high.
Int Shadow is all the way maxed
Ext Shadow is all the way maxed
Water detail is on high
everything with water is on.
blood decal is on high
HDR is on so no AA

AA and HQ AF is set to 4x within Ati Tray Tools.

I get great FPS indoors, with dungeons and homes, with these settings. Outdoor is doesnt go below 30fps....What do you guys think of these settings for my rig? Should I turn the grass on and try to set something else lower? Thanks for the suggestions!

Eur,

I'll have to check when I get home, but ATI's CCC is all set to "Application Specific" and I'm using in-game graphic settings. Would this be something I need to turn on using CCC or by editing the .ini file I've been hearing about? I haven't opened the .ini file.

Does HQ AF really make a difference in this game if you are using max in-game settings at 1600x1200 with HDR? What are your settings for the x1900xtx? 650/775?

I need to read up on HQ AF....

Thanks

This is all very interesting... I just bought an X1900XTX because I was disappointed with how poorly my 7800GT handled Oblivion. From the looks of things I'm not going to get much of an improvement, but we shall see.

FWIW, with my 7800GT I would average 12-25 FPS outdoors on max settings at 1280x1024, Bloom and 4xAA. Completely turning off JUST the grass slider shot me way up to 45-50 FPS. That just blew me away. At times it would slam up to 70 FPS while walking around the world. In towns it would average 40-ish, but indoors it spent a lot of time above 100! But I go back outside, and turn on the grass JUST a smidge, and I'd drop back into the teens.

I will get my new xtx in a few days and I'll see what I can get with it. But the grass slider REALLY seems to bog down a computer, be it Nvidia or ATI.

Dang, I wonder if each blade of grass is rendered seperately ?

that seems crazy.

It is. Hence the HUGE performance increases from turning it down/off.

Looks pretty normal for outdoors and indoors .. I'm having 25-27fps outdoors (tweaked at high iq settings) everything maxed on CP of game HDR and 1600x1200.. It is really playable for me though..
Me wants eye candy 😛

I've heard this game is optimised for dual core, I wonder if that helps much with the fps. I've just bought myself an X2 3800, X1900XT and 2GB RAM, gonna build it all over the weekend then test out this game and report back what frame rate I get.
