ok...so here are my specs...

Mobo = Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe
Memory = CORSAIR TWINX2048-3500LLPRO 2GB KIT
CPU = Opteron 175
Vid = x1900xtx

I have the CPU bumped up to 220 FSB giving me 2419. The x1900xtx is running stock on the drivers that came on the CD.

my 1st run came in at 11036. Not bad for a stock card with a mild cpu overclock.

3dmark05 score

Overclock your XTX :) and your CPU

Should get the Opteron 175 to 2.8Ghz and XTX should go past 750MHz easy

nevermind, i found an older post where you stated you were using water cooling :roll:

i sold my maze4 acetal because i switch video cards too often for me to bother with water cooling.

im sure i could hit 750 "easy" with water cooling too as these cards are severely limited by temps

btw OP, at stock vid...i hit just above 12k in 3dmark05 and with an overclock on the vid...i get a bit over 13k in 3dmark05

this is with a dual core at 2.9ghz

You need to get outside the AT forums more. The guys at ocforums.com are using air cooled XT's to hit 750+ speeds. As for the maze 4, I used it with my GTX and it worked fine on this card as well.

i do not say its impossible...just not easy.

i actually frequent other forums, but have the most posts here because i do all my fs/ft stuff here.

my other favorite forum is xtremesystems

and here are two members who arent close to 750:

guy one

and

guy two

i also notice you post at xs as well...remember the guy who was trying to sell a x1900 here irev210? well he too has a problem getting close to 750...

one more note...in the two links i provided...you'll notice that the fan is manually set at 100% to run at those speeds...so heat is definitely a factor. i've experienced this myself. if i run the fan at 100%...i can bench at a higher speed...obvious right?

since you're loading at 47c with ur maze...it only makes sense that you can get that high. as for the guys at ocforums...well they're jes the lucky ones of the bunch. jes like how i'm lucky with a dual core that is 3ghz prime stable...doesnt happen all the time.

edit: i also noticed you stated over at xs that no matter what voltage you use, you cant get over 850 for ur mem. mine goes to 900 and the guys in the link are the same and above. luck of the draw. i hope you get the point.

No doubt luck of the draw plays a big role but that doesn't take away from the fact that the guys with XTX boards over at ocforums and xs are hitting 750+ speeds - there's even a few guys with XT's hitting 750+ as well on air. The two links you gave me are to guys that ran their cards at stock volts and achieved those scores to show off the power of the card, not because they couldn't OC the core. I didn't bother to read the entire portion of the threads since it would take hours.

Yes heat does play a big part in OC'ing but that is true of any card or CPU and is no different with the XTX. The point is the card can be a monster overclocker on water and is still a damn good OC'er on stock cooling. Of course other factors like quality of the person's PSU and system stability also come into play so there's no doubt there's a large variance out there from person to person. I think we're both agreeing on the same thing here.

Oh and about my memory speed, that was before I found it's proper voltage sweet spot. I was ramping up the voltage and hitting an 850 mhz block and whenever I tried keeping the MVDDC/MVDDQ at the same settings it didn't work out so well. Turns out if I keep the MVDDQ .05v below the MVDDC I can OC this thing up to 870mhz no problem (can reach 880 mhz but not completely stable yet).

Edit: Forgot to mention, I'm OC'ing with ATi Tool only. As you may or may not know, if you OC with ATi OC utility, it relaxes the memory timings by a lot so some people can achieve 900 mhz easily with the memory but their results will barely be on par with an 850 mhz setting using ATi Tool.
