I started a thread on Rage3D and it seems to be picking up steam. It has to do with X1900XTs filtering issues, and with the help of 2 videos (first post and 2nd to last post), it pretty clearly shows that something is wrong with ATIs AA filtering on their new cards.

The thread is located here: http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33845168

I'm hoping more of you chime in with your experiences, even if you don't have an X1900XT.

Looks to be a big problem.... Time to switch back to the trusty 9800Pro

I've noticed the same oddness with my X1900XT too, and I'm inclined to acree with Acrimon.

Weird.... I just loaded that map and while there is some sort of issue (looks like AF to me) it certainly doesn't look anything like that. 12x10, HQ, 4xAA (HQAAA enabled), 8AF (hq af disabled) and AI set to advanced. I'll try to get a vid of it up tomorrow.

Up until now (and still) I've thought that is so-called "shimmering"?!

No, the shimmering everyone referred to before was with textures, this has to do with edges of polygons

There's a post later in the thread (page 3) that shows the ATI card not looking nearly as bad as the the one in the thread starter. That said, the Nvidia card looks better in both cases (IMO).

I was considering an X1900XT or XTX but I think I'm going to wait and see what the 7900GT and GTX have to offer.
