X1900XT power connector?

I've just build a new machine (A8N32, 64 3500+, X1900XT) but when booting up I get a message from the board that the power connector to the graphics card is not connected.

Sure it's not, I didn't received any with the retail package (Asus).

Also, my PSU doesn't have any 6-pin connector like the one that is needed. It comes with a bunch of 4-pin and sata ones but nothing that resembles this 6-pin one. The PSU is a SILVERSTONE 460W Low-noise ATX V2.01 12V PFC v.2.

Should I have received a converter with the retail package? If so how does it look like?

My X1900 XTX didn't come with an adapter either. It's pretty lame on ATI's part. My BFG 7800 GTX with a lifetime warranty came with one and ATI with their crappy 1 year warranty can't inlcude one.

Anyway, this is what you need:

Adapter

Try and track one down or get a new PS.

Yeah that is stupid of ATi not to include one.

Yes you should have gotten one. Most retail cards them in the box as far as I know, most OEM's Ive seen do as well.

It should look like this; http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowImage...Express%20x16%20Video%20Card%20-%20OEM Or sometimes it has two 4-pin molxes to a single 6-pin. I got one with my GTX's, and one with my A8N. You're going to have to get one, perhaps somewhere local?

edit, since Ive got three of them, if you want to PM me you addy, I can send you one. The PO is just a few miles away, and I know how bad it sucks to have new hardware that you cant use. If ou cant find one local today that is.

Apparently ATI decided not to include one because I didn't get one in my BBA retail box.

Thanks guys for the replies and the offers.

I'll try to hunt some locally (I'm from Portugal). I was hoping to give the new card a try with BF2 but I guess it will have to wait until Monday.

I must say it's a very very bad move from ATI (and/or the company selling the cards like Asus, Saphire and such) not including a cable that is required for the card to function.

Both my BBA X1800 cards came with the adaptor in the retail pack, sucks that they wouldn't include them now with the X1900 cards.

if you look in the adapter (same with my GTs) there are only 3 wires/pins to each molex. 3+3 = the six pin required for PCI-E

Well, actually, on this adapter it uses a 4+2 config, but you get my point 🙂
