Hey, I just picked up an HIS x1900XT w/ a Zalman VF900. I was wondering what kind of speeds people are able to overclock to? Right now I am running it at 660/1550 ish but I think I will push it higher when I go home today. Also is it worth me putting on a Artic X2 instead of the Zalman? I dont mind the fan blowing air into my case.

Thanks

Stock Cooler here (with a side mounted case fan blowing on the card) running 675/1550 easy. The auto clockgen applet recommended 690/1600

Many people have had bad experiences with the Zalman and the X1900XT but you may not be one of them. The X2 is a better cooler but not worth getting if you already have the Zalman. Mine did 700/1600 pretty easily with the stock cooler and does 725/1728 with the V1 Ultra I'm using right now.

I have my X1900XT at 725/830(1660) 1.425v w/modded V1 Ultra. With 25.5C ambient, I MAX load is at 57C (ATI Tool artifact scan--it generates more heat than any of my games including Oblivion).

Thanks a lot for the input guys... I think my zalman was producing temps of about 50 deg at idle and about 80 at load... I will have to double check when I go home... I have a sort of unrelated question... Currently I am running 1 GB of DDR400 Kingston HyperX ram (2-2-2-5) and was wondering if I should add another gig to my system for gaming? Should I go with Kingston or can I go with another brand? I am currently eyeing the Crucial Ballistix 2-2-2-5 2x512 kit. Any thoughts?

Small mis-print.. The crucial kit is actually 2-2-2-6... Oh also, is it worse performance wise to be running 4x512 as opposed to 2x1gb? Because if necessary I can get a 2x1gb kit and sell off my old kit.

if u have an AMD proc then 4 sticks of RAM gives you a noticeable decrease in performance because u are forced to run the RAM in 2T command rate rather than 1T. 2 gigs is quickly becoming the necessary amount for high end gaming and if u can afford it 2x1gb would be the best for you, with it u will notice a major difference right away in any of the latest games. If u are running an Intel proc BTW, there is no preformance hit for running 4 sticks as opposed to 2.

How does one edit the title? I just took a quick look around the features and couldn't find anything. Thanks for the advice morgash. I will make the change this month. Any memory suggestions. I was looking at the OCZ plat. rev 2's, the corsair XMS PRO XL, the patriot w/XBK, and i guess the crucial ballistix depending on the prices.. How is the overclocking on the crucial and patriot in comparison to the ocz and corsair?
