i just bought a x1900xt iceq3 and well everyone kept saying how idle was mid 40's-low 50's and load temps would be in the high 70's, and well mine runs "cool". mine idles at 40c and loads at 60c but thats also because i put the fan speed at 70% which is NOT LOUD at all.

That's pretty good but consider the default cooler... Man that thing was wack. Super loud and made my room a good 10 degrees hotter.

I got an accelero X2 for each of my cards, carved out a hole right above them and installed a thick 120mm fan on my P180. My temps are 38 idle and 55 load! Super Quiet Crossfire gaming :)

Does the new cooler not make your room 10 degrees hotter anymore? :)

Well I got similar temps on stock clocks when I used the stock cooler at 100%. It only gets into the 70s if you overclock a lot or use the stock cooler at default fan speeds.

I think the point is that your thread title is "x1900xt is not that hot", when what you really mean to say is "The HIS IceQ3 cooler is much quieter and cooler than the stock cooler". I just hope you don't have to RMA you card for any reason because HIS is ass for RMA... I finally got my X1900XTX back from them that I RMA'ed in May.

The X1900 XT still disappates quite a bit of energy. Better cooling will reduce temperatures, but not energy consumed.

I've been thinking about buying this card as well. Glad to hear it's cooler and quieter.

Thanks for the info!
