Hi,

I am having a big problem installing my new ati x1900xt. I dont know what the deal is, but after I install the card into the PCI-Express slot, I dont get a signal.

I have an Asus P5W DH MB. I have yet to try to stick it in the second express slot to see if that works. Im not sure if that is something that would work.

Another noob question is that I dont own a high end monitor..yet. So im using my current one with a dvi to vga adaptor. That shouldnt be an issue right? Thats what the converters are for eh?

Anyway, I want to get some advice on how to test whether the card was bad out of the box cause i really dont want the hassle of RMA-ing the card. The card is expensive and heavy. Not being able to boot up on the first power up is dampening my excitement on my first computer build.

Thanks

Try the other slot it will not damage it and you will not lose any performance. If that does not work try a bios update and then stick it in.

Call Asus and make the Support dude angery till he fixes your problem or go exchange the mobo to a much better gigabyte 965P-DS3 motherboard.

Yes, i did supply PCI-e power to the Card.

Z-stream:
when you say bios update are u refering to the MB Bios? I bought by p5w recent and it has version 1301 already, unless i need to up it to 14xx.

I will try to swap it to the black pci-express, as soon as i figure out how to install xp on my 74gb raptor with achi driver.

Thanks
