I recently purchased a x1900xt 512mb w/ arctic cooler installed from a forum member.

I used driver cleaner to get rid of old drivers, installed the card, installed the newest omegas. I Rune Episode 1, runs perfectly fine for 30 minutes. I go out for a while, come back and run Ep 1 again. This time, i get horrendous artifacts in 15 minutes. So bad the computer restarts (the PSU is a PC Power and Cooling 510 SLI). I download RTHDRIBL thinking it might be a temperature problem.

I ran RTHDRIBL for about 30 minutes and the temps dont exceed 70C, which is pretty good for the x1900.

So i'm kinda confused here.

what should i do? BTW, there are no artifacts in 2d mode at all. And I havent tried anything other than EP1 in 3d gaming, although i ran 3dmark05 (not looped, just a single instance) and it worked fine.

EDIT : I ran OBLIVION for about an hour without a single hiccup

i had a defective X850 once which showed sporadic artifacting...but 100% always artifacting in Doom3 with antialiasing on.

All you can do is run a range of benchmarks, set everything to max, eg. AA/AF....run a bunch of games. If it really happens in ONE game then i dont think its h/w related.

check theres no others having same issues with that game on sites. also if the artic silver is properly seated and flat with the graphic core chip. that cooler is sufficient to cool it. try another cooler if possible. try wiping windows and installing the drivers that came with your cd. lets hope it not damaged as one good way to damage quickly is to run them with none or no proper cooling. if you recently purchased it send it back. thats why i like to use a 3rd party cooler on my 1950xt to bring the temps right down.

run 3dmark06, if it completes it, it's probably fine. if not, the card is probably damanged

I uninstalled the OMEGAs and installed normal catalyst from the ati/amd site. Seems to have fixed the issue. I ran EP 1 for about an hour without issue...
