X1900XT 256MB over at newegg for $240

Oh and I'm locked in at 1680x1050. Not sure if that's considered "high resolution." Approx 450,000 more pixels than 1280x1024, and 156,000 pixels less than 1600x1200.

I went with the X1900XT 256MB. I don't think it's worth the extra cash for me as my monitor will only go up to 1440 X 900. All the reviews have shown solid results from this card. When DX10 games/cards come out in full force I will upgrade, probbaly not for another year.

With the 256 version at $240, does it really make sense to go with a 512 version for $300 if gaming at 1680x1050?

Personally I think I'd rather have the extra 256MB of RAM, but not sure it's worth $60. That's a 20% price difference, but the performance difference I believe is closer to 5-10% depending in the game. I really want the 512 version, but somebody please talk me into going with the 256 version so I can save some money.

256mb vs 512mb? I'm still on the fence as well.

Display is a 21" crt that can do 1600X1200.

I'm halfway hoping they sell out soon so it makes the decision for me.

I'm torn too. Really though, at ~1600x1200 (w/AA usually), the difference between the 1900xt 256 and 1900xtx 512 seems more like 15-25% (http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2833&p=1). So the price/performance isn't too bad. I still don't know if I feel like shelling out an extra $60 though

I seem to remember hearing some negative thoughts on MSI cards... anybody care to confirm/deny?

If youre going to get the XT 512MB version, I suggest going all out and getting the XTX for the same price AR.

Well, just so you know, while I was playing Farcry at 12x10, max settings, 4xAAA + HDR (yes, I still didnt beat it...) I monitored my video mem, and at some cases it was using like 310MB. So if you plan on keeping the card for a while, 512mb is probably worth the money, even for 12x10 gaming. But bang/buck, the 256MB version is better no doubt.

What the heck guys? I asked you to talk me into the 256 version. Now you're gonning to cost me $60.

Oh, and for me, price AR does not count. What ever gets charged to my CC is the price I'm concerned with. Any rebates I happen to get I just treat like found money.

Same here, especially since it takes 8+ weeks to get a rebate. It's a nice surprise.. come home from work, crack open the mailbox and find a $30 check smiling back. Woohoo! Almost a week's of gas!

I've got the X1900XT for ~$300 off newegg coming in the mail to replace my X1900GT I've been limping with. Not a bad deal at all considering I remember paying $500 for an XTX back in Feburary.

Same for me. That MSI wasn't really an option for me since as far as I was concerned it was the before rebate price. And the before rebate price was nothing to get excited about.

Accelero X2 is <$30 shipped at several sites including Newegg. The X2 seems like the best deal right IMO.
