Real-world performance wise. What would be a reasonable premium for the latter video card? The first I can get for about $299, and the second for $379. This is in CANADIAN dollars by the way. If I were to buy one of these now, which one would be the better deal, considering everything?

In most games the performance diff shouldn't be more than 10-20% unless you play at really high resolutons or with all eyecandy on for games like Serious Sam2. For SS2, you need the extra 256MB RAM even at 10X7 with AA and AF. To verify, please check xbitlabs.com

The difference is nill, especially if you overclock the GPU. $80 more for something that normally gets about a 10 frame advantage--and that is being generous at times--isn't worth the price IMO. However, it depends on the type of games you play or are planning on playing. Some games really benefit from the extra 256 MB's, some don't.

Have you searched [l=RedFlagdeals]http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=11[/b]. I've seen a couple of XTX's at $350 and I think one at $330 in the past week (Canadian dollars of course). They're dropping like flies!

you can check out the review by firingsquad too

it showed that the difference IS there, but it's minimal at best even when the resolution is high with aa
they're usually within 3 to 5 frames between the cards

but at EXTREME resolution like 2048x1536 with 4aa/16af then the frames will widen to somewhere around 8 to 10 frames
i doubt anyone here game at that resolution =P

WTF WHERE????? I know a local store that I know the guy who works there, and they pricematch, so I'd be able to snag those if I have proof of a lower price + i get half tax
