I read some reviews and it seems a decent card. Overclocks fine too.

However I'm not sure about ATI TV output driver support.
I need the card to occasionally output svideo (eventually hdtv), but I don't really know how much progress ATI drivers mate in the last couple of years.

I do know NVidia isn't exactly shining here, at least in my case it isn't. Reboot before use is pretty mandatory and even then I may have problems.

So how does ATI support TV output?
How's this card in general?

In general it has said to be pretty cool. I've seen some here show some impressive 3Dmark scores, but I always take those with a bag of salt myself. Overall it is a decent card from what I've read about it.

Remember, they are gonna fix up the X1900GT in awhile! So watch out!

In order of preference, get:
1900XT, around 320$ or so
1800XT 512mb
1800XT 256mb, around 220$ or so, right?
1900GT
not fully sure with the last 2

7900GT/X1800XT is faster overall.

The X1900GT (R580) will be replaced by X1900GT (R570). Or are they gona call it X1950pro?

oh god please, are u so lazy as to not do your own research on this forum and search "x1900gt" to read its posts? and find out how good it is?

unless u already know if it is good or not, and just want to have a fantasy where it is confirmed by our good readers and posters who take out their time to answer questions by people like you over and over again to confirm what you already know!! :)

lol, just a joke, but a point too heheh

no offense, i love answering questions too,.............so here goes,

x1900gt is good but not as good as x1900xt for the price!!
have fun

Well, i DID search the forum and I only got one thread out of it. In that thread the card was only mentioned briefly without any ongoing discussion :(

Anyway thanks for the replies guys.

I'd still like to hear any TV output experience though.

Oh, ashkayt: 1900XT costs about $650 here. 1900GT costs some $370. I find even the GT price a bit high, not to mention the XT price. I simply don't want to pay so much.

Unfortunately the 7900GT really outclasses the X1900GT except in the noise department.

How? The benchmarks in the reviews I read showed them to be about 5% apart, some tests in favour of ATI, other NVidia.
Or did I not read the right reviews?

Bad choice of wording. I just sold my x1900gt because i was consistently getting around 100C load. It doesnt make sense at this point to buy a gt when you can find the xt for under 300 AR or 350 without rebates.

With the X1900XT dipping into the $290's (OEM?) (retails for $329?) I really can't recommend the X1900GT. I want the full 48 pixel shaders, I don't want a quad disabled.

and iq. Actually the x1900gt is very quiet with an x2 cooler, so is the 7900gt (at least those that aren't on rma).

I'm pretty happy with my X1900GT. People seem to be missing out on the fact that it can be found considerably cheaper than many of the cards it's being compared with. I got a new BBA for under $190 with shipping. That puts it over $100 cheaper than the XT mentioned above. While I'm not sure what was up with BuckWild024's card, mine does tend to run warmish. In the sixties no load, seventies to eighties loaded, and 93ish overclocked to 648/711 under load. Except for the temps I'm getting I'd have to say I like the stock cooler.

Click.

Sometimes the ATi card gets pasted very badly by the 7900 GT.

That it does. ATI kinda rushed this out the door as they had already discontinued the X1800XT & needed something to combat the 7900GT. Link was a good read.

In the UK there are very few retailers stocking it as it's not as powerful as the X1800XT 512MB & 7900GT (both of which can be had for £15+ cheaper). That £15 can buy a VF-700Cu or Accelero X1/2 which would take care of noise.

The X1900GT wasn't all it should have been, still a good enough card but there are better choices for a similar (sometimes cheaper) price.
