I just installed a Sapphire Radeon X1900 XTX. The motherboard is a Gigabyte DS3. It's an E6600 CPU. I initially just downloaded the latest drivers off the internet and didn't use the CD, and then I couldn't get it to work at all. I then used the CD, and now it sort of works...

The monitor is a ViewSonic VP201B. I previous had an nVidia 6800, and I had it at 1600 x 1200. I ran Driver Cleaner and wiped the nVidia drivers off, and everything seems to be fine, but...

When I change the settings so that my desktop resolution goes from 1280 x 1024 to 1600 x 1200, I get a black screen, and then it reverts to 1280 x 1024 when the timer finishes. I can't for the life of me get it to swap to the correct resolution.

I'm downloading Omega drivers to give those a shot, but have any of you experienced or heard of this?

Thanks.

I noted in the OP that the monitor has previously run at 1600x1200. I found the setting that fixed it, but thanks for the snide comment, smartass. (DVI Settings, Reduce DVI frequency on high-resolution displays)
